What is a Commercial Invoice?
A Commercial Invoice is a document used during a trade. It is also an important document used for Customs Declarations for the importation / exportation of goods.

Although there is no standard format for the preparation of the Commercial Invoice, the document must include these vital information listed below:-

  • The buyer & seller information
  • The description of the goods
  • The value of the goods

How should I pack my fragile package for shipping?
  • Choose an appropriate box / carton size according to its content. Underfilled cartons are likely to collapse and overloaded ones may likely burst and tear
  • Fill your carton / package with cushioning material; i.e. bubble packs, Styrofoam fillers; to properly fill the contents
  • Place fragile items in the center of the box / package. Items should be well cushioned on all sides and not rested against the package walls
  • Remove all labels / stickers / indicators when re-using / recycling a box. Ensure that the box is in good shape and not worn out

What sort of packaging is not advised?
  • DO NOT bag or use bags made out of fabric or cloth
  • DO NOT over seal your package as at certain points, it may be opened by customs authorities for further inspection during clearance processing
  • DO NOT consider "FRAGILE" labels as a substitute for careful packaging. This label is only appropriate for information purposes only.

What is MSDS?
Material Safety Data Sheet, in short, MSDS, is a form containing details and data regarding the properties of a particular substance. MSDS are a widely used system for cataloging information on chemicals, chemical compounds and chemical mixtures. The exact format of a MSDS may vary from source to source within a country depending on how specific is the national requirement.
The basic properties of a MSDS contains:

  • Physical data (melting point; boiling point; flash point; etc)
  • Toxicity
  • Health Effects
  • First Aid
  • Reactivity
  • Storage
  • Disposal
  • Protective Equipment
  • Spill Handling Procedures

What are the Prohibited Commodities?
The following items or commodities are NOT accepted for courier under any circumstances:

  • Livestock or plants
  • Bullion
  • Currency
  • Drugs and Narcotics
  • Firearms, part thereof, and ammunition
  • Human Remains (Including Ashes)
  • Pornography Materials
  • Mobile Phones

How do I ship Dangerous Goods via Air Freight? What are the requirements? 
Dangerous Goods for Air Transport is regulated based on the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations. To be able to ship Dangerous Goods via Air Transport, you are required to provide the following documents:

  • Packing List
  • Commercial Invoice
  • Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
  • Permits for transportation / export / importation (if applicable)

Shipping Requirements:

  • Packaging as per IATA Regulations
  • Shipper's Declaration
  • Commercial Invoice
  • Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
  • Permits

Does my package meet the IATA Packing Requirements?
Our Dangerous Goods division will be able to pre-requisite / pre-inspect your shipments for Air Transport and will advise you if there are any necessary repacking required.
